Our long-term tenants recently departed, giving Ericka and me the chance to renovate and redesign a 2500 sqft apartment in our building.

It’s a quiet and spacious three bedroom with two existing bathrooms. It had been 15 years since its last renovation & time to bring it forward. We decided to completely rework the kitchen, both baths, add a new powder room, add a suite of discrete built-in closets in the primary bedroom, refinish all the flooring, rescue a painted-over original tile fireplace, and patch and paint the entire unit.

It took us 4.5 months of near constant work (including six weeks of what felt like never-ending painting), but we’re really happy with how everything turned out. The Heath tile in the bathrooms and the custom stone sink in the powder room are personal favorites. And I got to try my hand at applying a lime wash finish — tricky!

We immediately rented the unit and saw a 25% revenue improvement.
